Event Summary

The Future of ESG Integration:

How institutional asset owners, advisors and fund managers are embedding ESG sustainability in their investments and operations.

The world’s largest investors are moving quickly to adopt and implement the environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI). Its impact is broadening rapidly within asset owners to incorporate ESG criteria for internal strategy, advisory work, manager hires and new asset products. The six UN PRI principles are fast becoming best practice in institutional investment. No one in the financial services industry can afford to be in the dark about these developments.

At the same time, the UNPRI has announced an ambitious five-year plan to mainstream responsible investment globally. This includes the creation of a public policy network, a focus on performance questions, closer links with government and new work streams on alternative asset classes including hedge funds, infrastructure and commodities. The conference will consider its implications.

Debates around responsible investment are developing apace in this dynamic area as the impact of ESG issues on institutional investment decisions – both risk and return - grows, notably as a result of the credit crisis and looking forward to December’s Copenhagen summit to find a successor to the Kyoto Protocol.

The Future of ESG Integration in Institutional Investment is a specialist one-day seminar examining how institutional investors and portfolio managers are integrating environmental, social and corporate governance issues into mainstream investment analysis and decision-making.

It also highlights the debates, research and future strategy directions of initiatives including the PRI and the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, that investors need to keep abreast of.

Delegates will hear from asset owner and manager practitioners in Europe and the US who will deliver knowledge and insights gained via first-hand experience. The entire event will focus on best practice.

Who should attend: Asset owners (pension funds, insurance companies, foundations, HNWs and family offices), asset managers, private equity houses, hedge funds, corporate CSR / investor relations departments, research analysts, SRI research firms, consultants and investment intermediaries, lawyers.
