Job Description
Senior Advisors Responsible Investment
Realistic, visionary and independent
The Responsible Investment department plays a central role within PGGM Investments in terms of coordination and implementation of PGGM’s new Responsible Investment policy. PGGM is one of the initiators and signatories to the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment and the
focus of our new policy is the integration of ESG (environmental, social and governance) issues into our investment processes. Active shareholder participation and a constructive dialogue with companies, umbrella organisations and governments are crucial to this process. There is intensive
collaboration with other departments within the Investments business unit. PGGM Investments services not only one of the largest pension funds in Europe, it is also one of the most progressive and ambitious institutional investors on responsible investment. The ideal environment for ambitious professionals interested in responsible investment. Especially for our engagement program we are looking for three professionals interested in any of the following focus themes: corporate governance, health care/medicines, climate change and/or human rights.
The essence of the job!
Analytical: what are the most important ESG issues to integrate into the investment process and have a dialogue with companies who are significant in terms of our investment? How do you prioritize and structure a dialogue with companies and/or markets for our focus ESG themes? You are equipped to find suitable answers to such questions.
Visionary: you will have a profound understanding of the relationships between all aspects of our responsible investment ambition and our investment process. You will contribute to the continuous development of our responsible investment policies and ambitions.
Team player: you have a multi-disciplinary approach and you are able to work well with investment specialists and other professionals, both within and outside PGGM.
Communicative: you are able to conduct a constructive dialogue with large companies, umbrella organisations and governments globally at a senior management level. You have a good sense for the relevant customs and processes related to an effective dialog in various regions and situations.
Creative: you are able to step back from conventional approaches of problem solving. Your approach is creative, you have a sense of pragmatism and you are result-driven.
Why you?
You are an academic, preferably in economics, social science, law or business administration. You are an experienced researcher, consultant and/or portfolio manager and have at least 5 years relevant work experience. You are solution-oriented and interested in the integration of ESG issues into the investment process. You are capable to set the agenda, both internally and externally, where needed. You are keen to help one of the most innovative institutional investors in the Netherlands to further develop and integrate responsible investment within their overall investments. Affinity with investment and ESG issues is needed; experience in both these areas preferable. You have excellent written and verbal skills in English.
