People & Appointments: Valéry Lucas-Leclin leaves LSEG

The latest ESG movers and shakers

Valéry Lucas-Leclin, Director at London Stock Exchange Group, who was one of the management team brought in as part of LSEG’s June 2019 buy-out of Paris-based Beyond Ratings, the sovereign debt research firm with a strong ESG bent, has left the company. It is understood that Lucas-Leclin finished with LSEG last month and is currently on gardening leave. Lucas-Leclin was formerly one of Europe’s top rated ESG broker analysts and jointly ran Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s (BoAML) sustainability research out of London. He left Merrill to start Grizzly RI, a Paris-based ESG research entity in 2015, before that was merged into Beyond Ratings. Lucas-Leclin started Grizzly after more than 15 years in RI corporate research for five different companies: AReSE, Innovest, CM-CIC Securities, Société Générale, and BoAML. His last role was as Director
, Senior Analyst, Thematic, ESG Sustainability, 
EMEA Global Research, at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in Paris, after returning to his native France during 2013 after three years in London. Friends say he is likely to stay in the sustainable finance field. 

Marina Petroleka has been appointed Global Head of ESG Research for Fitch Ratings’ Sustainable Finance Group. Petroleka previously held the role of Global Head of Industry Research at Fitch Solutions, and prior to that she was Head of Energy & Infrastructure Research at BMI Research, also part of Fitch Group, for seven years. She replaces Mervyn Tang, who has left to join Schroders as its Head of Sustainability Strategy APAC. 

Credit Suisse’s sustainability strategy, advisory and finance team has named Richard Tarboton Global Head Net Zero Strategy – a newly-created position – effective from 1 August. Tarboton currently leads the sustainability strategy for Credit Suisse’s Global Chief Operating Officer function. In his new role, he will report to Marisa Drew, Chief Sustainability Officer & Global Head of Sustainability Strategy, Advisory and Finance. 

Guillame Mascotto has joined PGIM affiliate Jennison Associates as its Head of ESG Strategy. Mascotto was most recently Head of ESG and Investment Stewardship at American Century Investments, and has previously held ESG roles at PIMCO and MSCI.

Pauline Becquey has become the new Managing Director of the Paris Financial Centre's green and sustainable finance initiative, Finance for Tomorrow. Becquey 's previous roles include Head of Sustainable Development for the French Federation of Insurance and a role in EY's sustainability team where her responsibilities included auditing the extra-financial and impact reporting of major French banks

Sewon Park has joined South Korea’s Kiwoom Asset Management as its Head of ESG Strategy. Park was previously a Manager at Amundi, and prior to that Executive Analyst at Sustinvest for seven years.

Sachin Vankalas, General Manager of LuxFLAG, has sadly passed away. Vankalas worked at the non-profit for 10 years, and was described as a “tremendous human being” who “will be greatly missed”.

The new board members are: Phaedra Chrousos, Chief Strategy Officer at Libra Group; Tara McGuinness, Founder of the New Practice Lab at New America; David Park, Director, Data and Business Analytics, National League of Cities; Eric Pallotta, Vice President of Brand, Netflix; and Christina Martinez-Pinto, Founder and CEO, PIT Policy Lab.

UK Export Finance is hiring a Deputy Head of Climate Change and a Senior Environmental and Social Adviser.

Serkan Erdem has joined EY’s London and Ireland practice as a Sustainable Business Manager. Erdem has previously held sustainability roles at both PwC and EY in Istanbul. 

Triodos Bank is hiring a Regulatory Reporting Analyst, based in Bristol.

Nimisha Sodha has joined FE fundinfo as its Head of ESG – FE Investments. Sodha joins from Insight Investment, where she was an ESG Analyst, and has previously held roles at KPMG and Hymans Robertson.

Kelly Perry has joined investor relations consultancy Edison Group as its Head of ESG Services. Perry also leaves the London Stock Exchange Group where she focused on private markets fundraising, and was a member of the Women Inspired Network.
