People & Appointments: USS poaches from Jupiter for new RI head

The latest ESG movers and shakers: PRI appoints replacement for head of fixed income; Natixis IM loses head of sustainable investing to Edmond de Rothschild for CSO role.

USS has poached Jupiter Asset Management’s head of sustainability Sandra Carlisle to become its new responsible investing head after David Russell left for the Transition Pathway Initiative earlier this year. Carlisle joined Jupiter in February last year from HSBC Global Asset Management, where she spent close to five years as head of responsible investment. She previously held the same role at Newton Investment Management and sat on the PRI’s board as an asset owner representative from 2016 to 2018.

Elisabeth Vishnevskaja has joined the PRI as head of fixed income. She leaves her role as head of partnerships at the Climate Bonds Initiative, having spent two and a half years in that position. Prior to joining the PRI, Vishnevskaja held a series of fixed income roles at major asset managers including Fidelity International, BlackRock and UBS Asset Management.

Nathalie Wallace has been appointed chief sustainability officer at Edmond de Rothschild, leaving her role as global head of sustainable investment at Natixis Investment Managers. Wallace, who co-chairs the Investor Leadership Network’s climate steering committee, has previously held roles as head of strategy and development at Mirova and global head of ESG investment strategy at State Street Global Advisors.

Staying with Natixis IM, the firm has promoted Laura Kaliszewski to the newly-created role of global head of client sustainable investing. Kaliszewski, who joined Natixis in 2020 as head of sustainable investment solutions, has previously held roles at Moody’s Investors Service, BlueOrchard Finance and Deutsche Bank.

Nuveen has appointed Nick Moss as head of nature-based solutions in its natural capital arm. Moss, who will report in to global head of asset management Skye MacPherson, most recently ran the AGRI3 Strategy, a joint initiative between Rabobank and UNEP aiming to mobilise $1 billion in investments for forest conservation and sustainable agriculture.

Annabel Ross has joined Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets as a director of sustainability. Ross was most recently a sustainable finance researcher at the LSE and spent close to three years as lead of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership’s banking environment initiative.

Umang Vithlani has joined sustainability-focused fixed income think-tank the Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute as research director. He was most recently head of credit and senior portfolio manager at Fideuram Asset Management Ireland, and has also held roles at Aviva Investors and ING.
