RI People & Appointments, February 21: PGGM recruiting further Responsible Investment staff

RI’s regular Monday review of people moves and appointments.

PGGM, the €103bn Dutch pension fund giant, is advertising further Responsible Investment vacancies. It is seeking a Senior Advisor, Responsible Investment and an Advisor, Responsible Investment. The senior role requires at least 10 years relevant experience – preferably with experience in engagement.

Cecilia Repinski, Key Account Manager and Strategic Development Manager, at environmental, social and governance consulting firm GES Investment Services, is leaving “to explore new career opportunities”. She was formerly at the World Resources Institute.

Jean-François Schock, the former managing director for Europe at State Street Global Advisors, has emerged as a principal in a new socially responsible investing venture called Funds For Good. The company, based in Luxembourg, donates 50% of its profits to the Red Cross.

Niaz Alam has joined UKSIF, UK Sustainable Investment and Finance, as interim Chief Operating Officer. He has been Deputy Director at the Ethical Trading Initiative, a trustee of the London Pension Fund Authority and Head of Social Issues at EIRIS.

John Reynolds’ term of office as chair of the Ethical Investment Advisory Group (EIAG) of the Church of England expires at the end of 2011 and the EIAG is searching for a successor.

Richard Laing has announced his intention to retire as chief executive of CDC Group, the UK’s £2.5bn (€3bn) development finance institution after a seven-year tenure. He plans to take on ““a number of carefully selected non-executive appointments”.

Nick O’Donohoe, the former Global Head of Research at JP Morgan, has been named as an advisor to the UK’s new “Big Society” bank alongside Bridges Ventures’ Chairman Sir Ronald Cohen. O’Donohoe is a board member of the Global Impact Investing Network. Link

Greg Bourne, former CEO of WWF-Australia, has joined Carnegie Wave Energy as a non-executive director. Bourne is a former president of BP Australasia. Clive Callister takes over as board representative of Carnegie’s major shareholder Renewable Energy Holdings in place of Mike Proffitt. Release

Martin Hession, head of global carbon markets at the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change, has been appointed chairman of the Clean Development Mechanism’s executive board according to a Reuters report. He takes over from Jamaica’s Clifford Mahlung.

Richard Franklin, founder & executive chairman of environmental advisory firm Energy & Carbon GmbH and chairman of ECI Bioenergy Services, has been named as a director of Impax Asian Environmental Markets plc.

Magnus Eriksson has been appointed the new business manager at SEK212.8bn (€24.3bn) Swedish buffer fund Fjärde AP-fonden (AP4). Eriksson, who has been with the fund since 2008, assumed the post this month.Shaun Mays, chief executive of Climate Change Capital, has been appointed to the UK’s new Green Economy Council. He’s among several business leaders to have joined the body. Paul Walsh, CEO of Diageo, has been named Lead Non-Executive Director for the Department of Energy and Climate Change for two years. Link

Rajiv Wahi has been named executive chairman of Vestas Wind Systems’ Indian subsidiary. He joins from Cadbury Schweppes. Amit Kansal becomes Vice President Sales.
Maurice Tchenio, who has retired from his role as CEO of the French arm of private equity firm Apax Partners, is launching a social enterprise called the AlphaOmega Foundation according to a report in Financial News. It will work with charities and social enterprises to help underprivileged people.

Michael Washburn has joined Nestlé Waters North America as director of sustainability. He was formerly with the Wilderness Society and the Forest Stewardship Council. Announcement

Victor Shengjun Li has joined proxy firm Kingsdale Shareholder Services in Toronto as Senior Director, Proxy Analytics. He joins from Institutional Shareholder Services.

Kevin Wall, managing partner of cleantech investment firm Craton Equity Partners, is among the members of the new Recyclebank Sustainability Advisory Council set up by New York-based Recyclebank. Other figures involved include Aron Cramer, president of Business for Social Responsibility and SustainAbility founder John Elkington. Link

The £30bn Universities Superannuation Scheme is looking to recruit a Co-Head of Operational Due Diligence. “This is a new position to work alongside the existing co-Head to undertake operational due diligence on USS’s prospective and existing alternative asset managers.”

Corporate Citizenship, the corporate sustainability consultant, is seeking a London-based intern to help compile the daily CSR media briefing.
