
Former UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband has been appointed as a Senior Advisor to $4.5bn (€3.1bn) cleantech investment firm VantagePoint Capital Partners. “In a world shifting from resource plenty to resource scarcity I am looking forward to working with VantagePoint towards real solutions to global energy needs,” Miliband said.
Viki Betancourt, Manager of the World Bank’s Community Outreach Program Fund, has joined the Calvert Foundation’s Board of Directors. Betancourt also manages the World Bank Community Connections Fund. The Calvert Foundation is a social impact investment pioneer that is a separate entity from Calvert Investments.
Richard Breeden, the former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, has joined the Advisory Board of the Harvard Law School Program on Corporate Governance. Breeden is also the founder and chairman of Breeden Capital Management LLC. Larry Hamdan, Executive Chairman of Global M&A at Barclays Capital, has also joined the advisory panel.
Enid Rowlands has been appointed as a Trustee Member of NEST, the UK’s National Employment Savings Trust. Rowlands is a Board Member of the General Medical Council.

David Swensen, the Chief Investment Officer at Yale University, has retired from the TIAA Board of Trustees. Swensen, a trustee since 2003, will continue as a Trustee Emeritus, a newly-created role in which he will act as a consultant to the TIAA Investment Committee. TIAA’s AGM announcement
Inger Andersen has taken over leadership of the sustainable development network of the World Bank’s Trust Fund for Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development (TFESSD) from Kathy Sierra. Andrew Steer was named special envoy for climate change. Link
Thaddeus Vayda has been named as vice president of investor relations at deepwater rig operator Transocean Ltd. Vayda will be based in Houston and report to Transocean’s President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Newman. Vayda is rejoining Transocean, which he left in 2000, from a sell-side energy research role at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. Separately, John Briscoe has resigned as Transocean’s Controller and Principal Accounting Officer to “pursue another opportunity”.
