Allianz Global Investors’ Global Co-Head of ESG Jankowska leaves as Hoerter takes helm

Changes in environmental, social and governance team at leading asset manager

Bozena Jankowska, Global Co-Head of ESG at Allianz Global Investments, the asset management giant with €454bn under management, has left the firm, Responsible Investor understands.

She had been in post since July 2010 and led a team of eight ESG analysts responsible for developing a framework for ESG research, governance and engagement globally.

Messages to her email account receive this reply: “Bozena Jankowska is no longer at Allianz Global Investors.” Queries are directed to Eugenia Jackson, who is now Director and Head of ESG Research having joined from BMO Global Asset Management (the former F&C Investments) earlier this year. A company spokesperson declined to comment.

Jankowska, a former chair of the Analyst Committee at UKSIF – the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (2012-2014), joined the Listed Equity Steering Committee at the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), last year. Before her latest role, she was Team Head, Sustainability Research at RCM, the fund manager absorbed by Allianz.According to the firm’s website, Steffen Hoerter – the former Co-Head of Investment & Risk Consulting Services at its ‘risklab’ arm – is now Global Head of ESG. He is based in Munich.

“Steffen is responsible for coordinating the external messaging of ESG from Allianz Global Investors and in this capacity represents the firm externally,” the firm says.

Beyond Hoerter and Jackson, the team now comprises Marissa Blankenship, Marie-Sybille Connan, Henrike Kulmann, Robbie Miles, Mathilde Moulin and Rainer Sauer. David Diamond, Co-Head of ESG at the firm, based in Paris, was due to return this June after a sabbatical, although the status of this is now unclear under the new structure and with officials not commenting.

Hoerter chairs the ESG Committee, tasked with bringing together representatives from all functions to manage the AllianzGI ESG business. He has been with AGI since 2001 and developed the AllianzGI ESG Investment Advisory business, the company says.
