Deadline extended for UK Sustainable City Awards

Corporation of London sets November 15 as new cut-off

The City of London Corporation, the local authority for the City financial district, has extended the deadline for its annual Sustainable City Awards.

The Corporation has extended the application deadline for entries to November 15.

Companies’ efforts will be showcased at an annual awards ceremony at the Mansion House, the Lord Mayor’s official residence, in February 2011.

“The government’s recent spending cuts have brought the importance of organisations’ contribution to sustainable development to the forefront of the business agenda and it is now imperativethat they are identified as leaders in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” said Simon Mills, Head of Sustainability at the City of London Corporation. “We have extended the deadline so even more organisations can reap the benefits of winning a Sustainable City Award and we can applaud the excellent initiatives that are being embraced.”

There are 14 award categories, including sustainable finance. The Sustainable City Awards were established in 2001 and are run in partnership with 20 organisations. Link
