Carine Smith Ihenacho, Chief Governance and Compliance Officer at Norges Bank Investment Management speaks with Responsible Investor’s Daniel Brooksbank in the latest ESG Leaders Asset Owners video interview.
The interview covers active ownership and stewardship as well as the rationale behind corporate engagement.
She says: "We are an active owner and we truly believe that our active ownership activities support the objectives of the fund, which is to achieve the highest possible return at moderate risk."
She adds that while NBIM does exclude certain companies, its "main goal is to be an owner, an owner that contributes to sustainable returns for the companies that we have in our portfolio".
Smith Ihenacho also addresses ‘stakeholder capitalism’ while the conversation also goes on to address portfolio net zero commitments as well as long-term investment.
