Financial Times calls for sustainable investor of the year submissions

Responsible Investor supports the FT Sustainable Banking Awards.

Leaders in sustainable innovation amongst private equity firms, asset management companies and other non-banking institutions have until a final extended deadline of March 10th to submit entries for two new categories in the FT Sustainable Banking Awards.
The awards, organised by the Financial Times newspaper in partnership with the IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank, recognise leading financial groups in triple-bottom line banking: the combination of profit with environmental and social benefits. The two new awards are for Sustainable Investor of the Year and for Banking at the Bottom of the Pyramid.
The Sustainable Investor Award highlights achievement in investments or overall investment programmes with outstanding triple bottom line results. These can include, amongst other proposals, clean technology, sustainable real estate, social entrepreneurship, health care and carbon investment initiatives.
The Banking at the Bottom of the Pyramid Award is for ground-breaking financial transactions and initiatives that address the more than 4 billion people who live on less than US$2 a day. The accent is on engaging and empowering the poor in areas such as micro-insurance and micro-credit to micro-oriented supply chain lending and securitisation of microfinance portfolios.Applications are also being accepted from banking institutions for Sustainable Bank of the Year, Emerging Markets Sustainable Bank of the Year, and Sustainable Deal of the Year. For entry forms, go to the Awards website at: .
The awards will be presented at a special dinner in London on June 3, preceded by the 2008 FT/IFC Sustainable Banking Conference, which has become a major event on the international banking calendar.
The judging panel will be co-chaired by John Willman, UK business editor for the Financial Times, and Rachel Kyte, Director of Environment and Social Development, IFC, and will feature leading figures involved in sustainable finance and development.
Sustainable Finance, the consultancy firm, is acting as technical advisor for the awards.
