Rob Lake, Head of Sustainability and Governance at APG Asset Management, the €270bn fund manager that runs the assets of the ABP pension fund, is leaving to join the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) as Director of Strategic Development, in the highest profile professional management hire to date by the PRI. Lake, a highly-respected responsible investment specialist will join the PRI on May 16.
A spokesman for APG said the pension fund manager had yet to name Lake’s successor and was currently reviewing different options with regards to his replacement. Prior to APG, Lake worked at Henderson Global Investors as Head of Sustainability and Governance, and Head of Corporate Engagement.
In his new role at the PRI, Lake will have overall management responsibility for the initiative’s country networks, signatory outreach and recruitment, as well as its academic and public policy networks. The PRI said Lake would also specifically work on developing tools and strategies to enable investors to push forward the integration of ESG factors into their day-to-day investments.
James Gifford, Executive Director of the PRI, said:
“Rob’s experience will be extremely valuable in taking the initiative forward. His understanding of responsible investment will add a lot of value to signatories and the entire team who will benefit from his knowledge and guidance.”
The PRI currently has over 870 signatories from 45 countries with more than US$ 25 trillion of assets under management.
