Long-time Robeco exec Siermann joins NN Investment Partners in responsible investment, fixed income role

Siermann was most recently Chief Investment Officer at the Dutch central bank

Edith Siermann, Chief Investment Officer at the Dutch central bank, has joined NN Investment Partners as Head of Fixed Income Solutions and Responsible Investing, completing the Dutch manager’s responsible investing leadership team.
Siermann, who has more than 25 years of asset management industry experience, mainly spent at Dutch manager Robeco, will provide NN’s fixed income segment with a greater focus on responsible investing.
ESG in fixed income seems to be going up the agenda for investors, with Mike Amey, Head of ESG at bond giant PIMCO’s saying last year that he anticipates the “mainstreaming” of ESG in the market in the next five years.
Siermann joins NN IP (the former ING Investment Management) from De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), where she was responsible for managing the central bank’s reserves, which include both fixed income and equity investments.
She was also a member of the DNB’s Corporate Social Responsibility committee, responsible for the integration of sustainability within the central bank’s core activities.Last year, RI reported that the DNB intends to join the UN-supported Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI) in February – a sign of the growing importance central banks are placing on sustainable investing.
Prior to joining the DNB in 2017, Siermann was Global Chief Investment Officer Fixed Income at Robeco, where she also coordinated the firm’s responsible investing activities and headed the Governance and Active Ownership team.
Siermann now joins Jeroen Bos, Head of Specialised Equity and Responsible Investing; Arnoud Diemers, Head of Innovation and Responsible Investment Platform; and Adrie Heinsbroek, Head of Responsible Investment as part of NN IP’s responsible investing leadership team.
Based in The Hague, she will report to Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, NN IP’s Chief Investment Officer, who said: “I am very pleased to now have a leadership team with strong responsible investing knowledge and experience across all asset classes, which helps bolster our ambition and efforts to be on the leading edge in this field”.
