Sustainability ratings house to open Paris office

Move reflects importance of French SRI market

Oekom research, the Munich based sustainable and responsible investment rating agency, is setting up a new office in Paris.

It says the move reflects its large French client base and the importance of the French socially responsible investing (SRI) market.

The company has advertised for a Sales Manager France, a new role, to set up and manage the new office. It wants to hire someone “at the earliest possible opportunity”.

“The decision to expand our operations in France is based on the fact that we already have a considerable client base over there and that the French market is obviously very important in terms of size and growth ofSRI assets,” said Till Jung, Oekom’s Director of Business Development.

Just last month, Novethic’s annual review of the French SRI market found that assets under management had grown 35% to €68.3bn.
Jung told Responsible Investor: “From our experience our research approach also fits well with the expectations of the French market. All these reasons made our presence in Paris the next logical step.”

Oekom analyses companies and countries with regard to their environmental and social performance and it has more than 70 asset manager and asset owner clients – representing an asset base of over €90bn.
