People & Appointments: Aviva recruiting Head of Climate Investment Strategy

Aviva Investors is hiring for a Head of Climate Investment Strategy. It said the role will help define the strategic approach of Aviva’s Net Zero ambition and “drive growth in new revenues from a growing ESG market”.

Priya Prasad Bowe has been promoted to Head of ESG at Oaktree Capital Management. Prasad Bowe joined the alternative investment asset manager in 2019 as a Credit Product Specialist, and has previously worked at Citadel Securities and Morgan Stanley.

Hilkka Komulainen has joined financial services provider Aegon UK as its first Head of Responsible Investment. Komulainen has previously held roles at the PRI and EY, and most recently was responsible for ESG integration at IH International Advisors.

Bluebay Asset Management has made two new appointments in its ESG investment team. Emma Whiteacre joins as a Senior ESG Analyst from Beazley Group, where she was a Country Risk Analyst, while Elena Koycheva has been promoted from Senior RFP Writer to ESG Institutional Portfolio Manager.

Jane Goodland has left her role as Group Corporate Affairs Director at wealth manager Quilter. Goodland joined Quilter as Responsible Business Director in 2015 from her role as Global Head of Sustainable and Responsible Investment at consultancy Willis Towers Watson. Goodland is Deputy Chair of the Corporate Affairs Committee at the Investment Association.

Robeco has announced plans to appoint three new sustainability specialists in its Singapore business to provide regional ESG expertise. The new hires will be part of the bank’s Sustainability Investing Centre of Expertise.

JP Morgan Private Bank is recruiting a new Head of ESG Integration and a new Head of Sustainable Investing.

Mark Carney has said that he does not plan to stand for election if Canada holds an election this year. The former Governor of the Bank of England said that his commitments to COP26 meant that he would not become a candidate if Justin Trudeau decided to hold an election. In a statement on Twitter, Carney said: “right now global action on the Climate Crisis is the main thing. I made a commitment, and I’m going to keep it”.

Law firm giant Kirkland & Ellis has appointed Mary Beth Houlihan as a partner in its ESG and impact practice group. Houlihan, who has a law degree from Columbia University, was previously a member of the ESG practice at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.

Helen Gurfel has been appointed as the first Head of Sustainability and Innovation at real estate investment firm CBRE Global Investors. Gurfel’s previous roles include at LENX, the Urban Land Institute Greenprint Center for Building Performance and GE Capital.

Debby Blakey, CEO of HESTA, has become the new President of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors. She will replace Ian Silk, Chief Executive of AustralianSuper. 

Susanna Marttila has joined real assets investment firm KGAL Group as ESG Officer. Marttila was previously Regional Head of EMEA for ESG Ratings at ISS. 

Kristina Arsenievich has become Director of European Real Estate ESG at Barings. Arsenievich leaves her role as Senior Sustainability Manager at Canary Wharf Group, and has previously held sustainability roles at Arup and Start Development.

Climate change think tank E3G is hiring a Policy Advisor, Sustainable Finance, based in Berlin.
