People & Appointments: EFAMA recruiting for sustainable finance policy advisor

The European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) is recruiting a regulatory policy advisor focused on sustainable finance and/or stewardship. Key responsibilities will involve monitoring sustainable finance regulatory developments in the EU and globally, and develop common policy positions among EFAMA's members.  

Piet Klop has been appointed head of the PGGM Responsible Investment team, taking over from Hans Op ’t Veld. Klop, who had already been in this role as interim manager for some months, was previously a senior responsible investment adviser at PGGM. Op ’t Veld took on the head of responsible investment role in 2018, and PGGM said he will now instead “focus on the expansion of the Sustainable Development Investment Asset Owner Platform (SDI AOP), of which PGGM is one of the founders”. A PGGM spokesperson refused to confirm whether Op’t Veld has joined the stand-alone entity SDI AOP or if he has remained with PGGM in a different role.

The European Commission is calling for applications for the position of Chair of the Sustainability Reporting Board of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), the EU’s accounting body. The organisation is leading the development of new corporate sustainability reporting standards for the EU. Applicants should have at least 15 years of experience and will be appointed for a period of three years.  

The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) has appointed six new board members. The new members are Bruce Duguid, Head of Stewardship, EOS at Federated Hermes; Claudia Kruse, Managing Director Global Responsible Investment & Governance, APG Asset Management; Graham Cook, Chief Investment Officer, Environment Agency Pension Fund; Kelly Christodoulou, Listed ESG & Stewardship Manager, AustralianSuper; Caroline Le Meaux, Head of ESG Research, Engagement and Voting, Amundi and Sandy Boss, Global Head of Investment Stewardship, BlackRock.  

MAN GLG has poached two equity portfolio managers from J Safra Sarasin Asset Management to work on thematic responsible investment strategies. Yohan Terry and Jann Breitenmoser have both joied MAN GLG as equity portfolio managers focused on water and the circular economy. Terry was previously Lead Portfolio Manager of the JSS Sustainable Green Planet Fund and Breitenmoser was portfolio manager of the JSS Sustainable Equity – SDG Opportunities strategy.  

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, Directorate-General Climate and Energy is recruiting a senior financial sector policy advisor. The policy advisor will focus on areas including the financing of climate policy and the sustainability of the financial sector.  

CICERO Shades of Green is recruiting two analysts to work on green bond and green equity assessments.   

Don Gerritsen has left his role as regional head of Benelux at Principles for Responsible Investment after more than six years at the organisation. His new role will be announced in January.   

The University of Cologne’s faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences has appointed Dr Tobias Bauckloh as Junior Professor for Sustainable Finance. His research focus is on the impact of sustainable investments, the influence of sustainability on the financial performance of investments and the success of voluntary initiatives and regulations to promote sustainability in the investment process.
