People & Appointments: Schroders poaches engagement director from Federated Hermes to lead corporate governance

Schroders has appointed Federated Hermes’ Tim Goodman to the role of Head of Corporate Governance. Goodman joins Schroders after spending 14 years at Federated Hermes, most recently as Director of Engagement and previously worked in the insurance industry. As Head of Corporate Governance at Schroders he will focus on developing engagement and voting on corporate governance matters globally. Federated Hermes did not reply to RI’s request for comment on Goodman’s replacement.   

Joy Williams has left Manifest Climate to start a new position as Executive Director of Financial Institution Transition Planningplanning at Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). Williams was previously a Climate Strategist and part of the product advisory team at Canadian climate solutions firm Manifest Climate, previously known as Mantle 314. She was the Chair of a Decarbonization Advisory Panel that advised the Comptroller of New York State on climate risks and solutions and prior to that worked on climate risk at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund.  

Amy Merrill, the former UNFCCC negotiations lead for 'Article 6' of the Paris Agreement, has joined Climate Asset Management as senior legal counsel. Climate Asset Management is a joint venture of HSBC Asset Management and Pollination, focused on natural capital. She will be working closely with Chief Investment Officer Martin Berg. 

Kingsmill Bond has left Carbon Tracker to join non-profit RMI as senior principal with RMI’s strategic analysis and engagement group, focused on energy analysis for the financial sector. For the past four years at Carbon Tracker, Bond has focused on the impact of the energy transition on financial markets and geopolitics. RMI and Carbon Tracker said that as part of Kingsmill’s move, the two organisations would commit to continue and extend their collaboration around financial analysis of the energy transition. They have previously teamed up on a range of reports.   

Dana Barsky has left her role as Global Head of Sustainable Finance at Credit Suisse to join the Growth for Good Acquisition Corporation, a newly formed special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) looking to acquire companies with "a mission of positively impacting the environment and society", as President.  

Sonya Likhtman of Federated Hermes and Emine Isciel of Storebrand Asset Management have been appointed new co-chairs of the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation’s public policy advocacy working group. The working group of financial institutions is tasked with advocating for effective outcomes of the second leg of the COP15 UN biodiversity talks in 2022, with an emphasis on aligning financial flows with global biodiversity goals. In 2022, the Public Policy Advocacy working group will also look into best practices and strategies for public policy engagement on reversing nature loss this decade. 

Avent Bezuidenhoudt has been promoted to Head of Investment at Earth Capital, the sustainable investment-focused private equity investor, having joined in 2020 as Investment Director.

Norges Bank Investment Management is looking for a London-based climate risk analyst to join its ESG Risk Monitoring team in the Investment Risk department.
