People & Appointments: KKR appoints Gailliot as global climate strategy co-head

The latest ESG movers and shakers: Jankovic joins Stafford Capital Partners as head of sustainability; State Street’s Donohue promoted to head of global investment insights, sustainability and impact.

Private equity giant KKR has appointed Charlie Gailliot as co-head of global climate strategy. He joins existing global climate strategy co-heads Emmanuel Lagarrigue and Neil Arora, who leads the strategy in Asia. Gailliot leaves Goldman Sachs, where he spent 20 years in the merchant banking division and was most recently responsible for the energy transition team. He also served as a member of the investment committees for corporate equity, infrastructure and climate.

Private markets firm Stafford Capital Partners has appointed Marta Jankovic as head of sustainability. She leaves APG Asset Management, which she rejoined as a senior Sustainable Financial Disclosure Reporting (SFDR) consultant in November 2022 after an earlier stint of six years as head of ESG integration alternatives. In between, she spent nearly four years at BlackRock, initially as EMEA head of iShares sustainable and then as a director in the investment stewardship division.

Jessica Donohue has been promoted to head of global investment insights, sustainability and impact at State Street. She first joined the US bank in 2001 and was previously global head of its asset owner business. Donohue is also chair of FNZ Trust’s risk and compliance committee.

Pauline Becquey has left the Institut de la Finance Durable, France’s green and sustainable finance initiative, formerly known as Finance for Tomorrow. She joined as managing director two years ago. Her previous roles include head of sustainable development for the French Federation of Insurance and a sting in EY’s sustainability team, where her responsibilities included auditing the extra-financial and impact reporting of major French banks.

Catherine Faddis has joined SRI manager Zevin Asset Management as a senior portfolio manager. She leaves Fernwood Investment, where she was senior portfolio manager. She was also formerly chief investment officer at Grace Capital for more than seven years.

UK Local Government Pension Scheme pool Border to Coast is recruiting a responsible investment manager to support the implementation of its responsible investment strategy. The successful candidate will work alongside the team to embed ESG factors into the investment process, active ownership, industry engagement and reporting.

Nuveen has hired Ted Maa as a managing director, private equity impact investing. He joins from private equity firm Pine Brook, where he spent more than 11 years. Maa led investments in conventional energy companies as well as the firm’s entry into the energy transition and climate sectors. He was also vice-president at Denham Capital, where he worked across biofuels and waste-to-value sectors.

Gresham House has appointed Chris Coulton as director and deputy head of portfolio within sustainable infrastructure. He was previously portfolio director at LDC Private Equity within the mid-market corporate advisory business for more than seven years. Before that, he was a director at Deloitte for 15 years.

Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) is recruiting an ESG data analyst for risk monitoring. The successful candidate will be responsible for ESG data-related tasks, including managing data pipelines, and structuring and analysing data which supports the monitoring of environmental and social risks and trends.

Rupert Davies has joined the sustainability team at alternatives manager Foresight Group. Davies has previously held ESG analyst roles at Morgan Stanley, Franklin Templeton and Federated Hermes, and was head of ESG at UK asset manager Heptagon Capital until April.

Aviva Investors is recruiting a biodiversity analyst to support its commitments on nature. The successful candidate will coordinate with other teams to integrate biodiversity-related commitments into the manager’s investment processes and portfolios.
