People & Appointments: Responsible Investor welcomes new editor

The latest ESG movers and shakers: VC and PE firms appoint ESG heads, Biden nominates SEC commissioners, Alecta loses head of responsible investment

Lucy Fitzgeorge-Parker has joined Responsible Investor as editor. Lucy started her career in banking before switching to journalism in 2003. She has worked for Euromoney since 2009 as emerging markets correspondent, Central and Eastern Europe editor, and most recently ESG editor. Her focus areas include banking, capital markets, biodiversity, ESG data and multilateral development banks.

Peter Lööw, head of responsible investment at Swedish pension giant Alecta, has left his role to become vice-president, sustainable finance at Finnish pulp, paper and forestry firm Stora Enso. Lööw, who sat on the board of Swedish responsible investment forum Swesif for three years, spent almost his entire career at Alecta, joining in 2000 as a project manager. He joined the risk team in 2002 and was head of risk and performance from 2008 to 2015, when he became head of RI.

Joe Biden has nominated Jaime Lizárraga and Mark Uyeda to fill the two commissioner vacancies at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Lizárraga, who is currently a senior adviser to House speaker Nancy Pelosi, has spent 31 years in public service, including as a presidential appointee at the Treasury and SEC, and will replace Allison Herren Lee. Uyeda, an SEC attorney currently on secondment to the Senate Committee on Banking, will replace Elad Roisman. He has previously served as assistant director and senior special counsel in the regulator’s Division of Investment Management.

Tony Rooke has left his role as a senior director in Willis Towers Watson’s climate, decarbonisation and transition strategy group to join GFANZ as executive director, climate transition planning and sectoral pathways. Before joining Willis Towers Watson, Rooke spent close to five years at the CDP, most recently as global director, disclosure.

Sustainalytics is seeking a biodiversity expert to join its thematic expert group, which sits at the nexus of products and thought leadership for specific ESG themes. The role will focus on developing structured frameworks and improving research approaches related to biodiversity issues across products.

Nasdaq is hiring a team leader for its ESG advisory practice with at least five years of sustainability experience.

Generation Investment Management is hiring an engagement associate to work in its global equity team.

Cornelia Gomez has joined private markets firm General Atlantic as its first global head of ESG. Gomez, who left her role as head of ESG and sustainability at French private equity firm PAI Partners in January, previously led the social compliance unit at retail giant Casino Group.

Tim Buchholz has joined DZ Bank to work in its ESG origination team. Buchholz began his career at Commerzbank before moving to Sumitomo Mitsui in 2018 as relationship manager, large corporates.

The New York City Office of the Comptroller is hiring an ESG integration officer.

Rosalind Bazany has been promoted to head of ESG and impact at venture capital firm Antler. She joined the firm in July last year from Schroders, where she worked for 11 years, holding multiple roles in its consultant relations and private banks wings.

The Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute has appointed Avril MacKenzie as head of market outreach to lead its investor outreach and engagement. MacKenzie has worked in several banking roles at Lehman Brothers, Standard Chartered and Scotiabank. Most recently she held an advisory role within a fintech startup.
