RI People & Appointments, April 25: Ex-ICGN head Rosén joins Sweden’s industry ministry in senior role

Carl Rosén, the former Executive Director of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), has now joined the Swedish Ministry of Industry as Director General, Head of Department, State Ownership and Innovation. Rosén was most recently CEO of the Swedish Shareholders’ Association, Aktiespararna. From 2004-2009 he was Head of Corporate Governance and Communications buffer fund Andra AP-fonden (AP2).

Peter Norman, Sweden’s former Minister for Financial Markets and former executive president at buffer fund AP7, and Robert Eccles, Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business School, have joined the board at the Mistra Centre for Sustainable Markets (Misum) at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). Also joining the board are Ingalill Holmberg, Professor and Director for the Centre for Advanced Studies in Leadership at SSE and Johanna Mair, Professor of Organization, Strategy and Leadership at the Hertie School of Governance.

UK government department the Cabinet Office has appointed Tom Le Quesne as its new Head of Social Investment and Finance to replace Kieron Boyle, who, after four years in the role, has joined health NGO Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity as Chief Executive Officer. In his former roles Le Quesne developed policy and advised on economics at conservation charity WWF. For the past two years, he has been a Senior Policy Advisor at the Cabinet Office.

Martha Willis has joined US financial services giant TIAA as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the firm’s asset management unit, Bloomberg reports, citing an e-mailed statement. Willis joins TIAA from Oppenheimer Funds, where she was also CMO.

Runa Alam, chief executive at Development Partners International (DPI), the pan-African private equity firm, is the head of a new Sustainability Committee formed by the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) industry body. Alam is the former chair and a current board member of AVCA. Investor members of London-based AVCA include the Government Employees Pension Fund, the International Finance Corporation and the New York State Common Retirement Fund.

Anthony Guerrero, Director of Sustainability at US campaign group Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), has been appointed to the International Living Future Institute’s Board of Directors (ILFI). The ILFI is an environmental NGO seeking to reconcile ‘humanity’s relationship with the natural world’.Jacqueline Oh has been named Managing Director of SVVKASIR, the new Swiss responsible investment body. She joins from private bank Julius Baer, where she was a project manager. She has a Master’s degree in Management and Economics from the University of Zurich and the body said she “brings profound knowledge of project management as well as sustainable investing”. SVVKASIR was founded last December by four Swiss pension funds, including CHF38bn (€34.6bn) giant Publica, and Suva, the Swiss insurer.

Olivier Bonnet, Head of Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) at ERAFP, France’s €25.3bn civil service pension scheme, will become Head of Asset-Manager Selection from the beginning of May at the fund, IPE reports. Pauline Lejay, stepping up from her role as SRI officer, will replace Bonnet as Head of SRI. Prior to joining ERAFP Bonnet was at Vigeo Group (now Vigeo-EIRIS), a French ESG research firm, for five years.

Loren Harris, Director of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, one of the largest philanthropic foundations in the US, has been named Vice President of Programs at The Nathan Cummings Foundation, a national grant-making organisation that has made $425m in grants over the past 25 years. Harris, who also founded US philanthropic social enterprise, KIREN Legacy Enterprises, will support the development of integrated program strategies.

Joshua Freedman, Fund Manager, Natural Resources team at Blackrock, has reportedly left firm after nearly 10 years. Current Portfolio Manager, Alistair Bishop will replace Freedman, Citywire reported.

Jon Richards, National Secretary for Education and Children’s Services at UK based union, Unison, has been named Deputy Chairman of the UK’s Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). LGPS, one of the largest public sector pension schemes in the UK, has recently commissioned work looking into how proposed reforms to English schools might affect local authority funds.

Sally Bridgeland, former Chief Executive of BP Pension Trustee Ltd, and Robert Vandersluis, Director of Global Pension Investments at pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline, have been appointed non-executive board members of the re-branded Local Pensions Partnership (LPP). The LPP is a joint venture to pool funds between the London Pensions Fund Authority’s (LPFA) and the Lancashire County Pension Fund (LCPF). Link

RobecoSAM, the Dutch based private equity investor, with €3bn assets under management, is looking for a Head of Portfolio Management to join its Private Equity team in Rotterdam.
