Yovanka Bylander has been named as the new head of Securities Class Action Services at ISS, Institutional Shareholder Services. Bylander, formerly Acting CEO of $200m hedge fund Hawkstone Capital, will head a team of 18 at ISS. Announcement

Aditi Mohapatra, Senior Sustainability Analyst for Calvert Investments, was presented with the “Rising Star Award” by the New York Women’s Agenda, at their annual STAR Breakfast on December 6 in New York. Mohapatra, who has led Calvert’s efforts to promote gender equality and boardroom diversity, was recognized for her efforts to advance women in the workplace. Link

Zhang Guobao has been appointed to the board of AES, the US energy company with substantial operations in hydro, wind, solar, biomass generation and carbon offsets. Zhang was nominated to the role by a subsidiary of China Investment Corporation pursuant to a shareholders agreement with AES. He is Vice-Chairman of the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission and was recently Administrator (Minister-Level) of the Chinese National Energy Administration. Announcement

Mark Montemurro, co-founder and chief executive of alternative energy firm NRG Corporation, has been appointed as Senior Advisor to renewable energy and cleantech banking group ThomasLloyd. Zurich-based ThomasLloyd has more than $2.4bn in assets under management.

Stephen Ellis has joined Hermes Real Estate Investment Management Ltd. as an asset manager overseeing a portfolio of industrial and regional office properties. He joins from real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle, where he was a director. Prior to that he was a fund manager at Royal & SunAlliance.Mimi Drake, president of Permit Capital Advisors, has been elected chair of the global board of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds not-for-profit body. Sandra Urie, chairman and chief executive of Cambridge Associates, becomes vice chair. Kristen Eshak Weldon, managing director of Blackstone Group International, has been elected as chair of the London board; Kathryn Graham, director at BT Pension Scheme Management, will join the London executive committee as vice chair. Brigitte Madrian, David Laibson and James Choi have won the 16th annual TIAACREF Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security. They won for their paper “Why Does the Law of One Price Fail?-An Experiment on Index Mutual Funds.” Announcement

The £4.1bn (€4.8bn) London Pensions Fund Authority has advertised a vacancy for a Commercial Director. “You will be responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities and to drive growth across the LPFA’s suite of pension administration services in the public sector market,” the ad states.
Ansvar, the ethical insurance firm that is part of church charity-owned Ecclesiastical, is seeking a New Business Team Manager. The deadline for applying for the UK-based role is December 22.

Triodos Renewables, the climate change investment firm, has advertised a vacancy for an Operations Manager. The company owns and operates eight renewable energy assets with an aggregate capacity 40MW and aims to double this in the next three years.
Triodos Bank’s Triodos Investment Management Emerging Markets arm also has a vacancy, for an Investment Officer, Microfinance and Sustainable Trade, Latin America. The application deadline: January 6.
