Jacques Maire has joined the Executive Committee of Paris-based ESG research firm Vigeo as Director of Strategy and Development. He spent 10 years with AXA Group in regional management roles before joining the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2012 in its Corporate and International Economy Division. Vigeo’s CEO Nicole Notat said Maire’s “international, financial and corporate experience will help us to make Vigeo a global actor in corporate responsibility sector”. Vigeo, founded by in 2002 by Notat, the former secretary general of the CFDT union, is also currently advertising for a Communication and Institutional Relationships Manager. Link
Peter Wennink has joined the Investment Committee of Dutch civil service pension fund ABP as an external member. The 57-year-old is Chief Executive Officer of microchip firm ASML and a member of the supervisory board of Bank Insinger de Beaufort. ABP says the committee is responsible for the frameworks which the fund sets on investment policy, for example socially responsible investment. Other external members include former Norges Bank and RiskMetrics executive Knut Kjaer and New York City Pension Funds’ CIO Scott Evans.
Daniel Cremin has joined index and ESG firm MSCI as Vice President, Global Head of ESG Marketing. He was formerly at Climate Change Capital, the London-based sustainable investment firm, where he was Head of Marketing and Communications.
Bailey Childers has been named as the new Executive Director of the National Public Pension Coalition (NPPC), the US nonprofit organization that works to preserve retirement security for public employees. She takes over from Jordan Marks and joins from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Announcement
Murray Grant has been named Managing Director of Africa Funds at CDC, the UK’s development finance institution, heading the team responsible for the organisation’s investments in private equity funds across Africa. Jess Cordingly has been named as the new Director of Social Innovation at LankellyChase, a new post at the UK foundation. She joins from the government’s Cabinet Office’s Social Investment and Finance Team where she was seconded from UnLtd to head up the government’s response to social angel investing. Announcement
German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble has been named the new Chairman of state-owned development bank giant KfW. Schäuble takes over from Industry Minister Sigmar Gabriel, who served as the KfW’s Chairman in 2014 and is now Deputy Chairman of the bank, which has €465bn in balance sheet assets.Mie Holstad, Chief Administrative Officer at Norges Bank Investment Management, and Steven Wechsler, CEO and President of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), have been named as non-executive directors of GRESB (the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark), the investor-backed industry group. Rick Fedrizzi, CEO of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), was appointed as chairman of the GRESB Board.
Arnaud Cosserat has been named as Chief Investment Officer of Comgest, the France-based asset management firm which specializes in long-term investment and which has a comprehensive ESG strategy. Comgest, which has €18bn under management, says Cosserat (who joined the firm in 1996) takes over from Vincent Strauss, who remains Chief Executive Officer.
James Cudahy has been appointed President and CEO of the National Investor Relations Institute, the US trade body. Cudahy, currently head of the National Court Reporters Association – who spent nine years at CFA Institute as vice president of marketing and communications – takes over from Jeffrey Morgan, who is leaving to become CEO of the Club Managers Association of America. George Kirby has been named as President and Chief Executive of Ocean Power Technologies, the Nasdaq-listed wave-energy technology firm. He was most recently Senior Vice President for the energy business unit at AECOM Technology Corp.; he takes over from Interim CEO David Keller, who will remain on the board. Keller stepped in at the New Jersey-based firm after chairman and CEO Charles Dunleavy was fired in June last year. Announcement
Geoffrey Green has been named as chair of the Financial Reporting Review Panel (FRRP) of UK watchdog the Financial Reporting Council. Green, a former partner at global law firm Ashurst, takes over on April 1 from the outgoing Richard Fleck. The panel reviews company reports and accounts.
The TIAA–CREF Institute has named Eugene Steuerle as the winner of the 19th annual TIAA–CREF Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security. Steuerle, the Richard B. Fisher Chair at the Urban Institute, was recognized for his book “Dead Men Ruling: How to Restore Fiscal Freedom and Rescue Our Future.” Link
