RI People & Appointments, Jan 17: New chairman at European Corporate Governance Institute

RI’s regular Monday review of people moves and appointments.

Eddy Wymeersch has been named Chairman of the European Corporate Governance Institute. He takes over from Antonio Borges, who has become Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund. Wymeersch, a founder member of the ECGI, was most recently Chairman of the Committee of European Securities Regulators. The appointment is subject to ratification at the ECGI’s next general assembly on April 8. Link

Joseph Haslip, Assistant Comptroller for Pensions in the Office of the New York City Comptroller, has been named managing director of public plan relations at Blue Harbour Group, the US asset manger which specialises in long-term active ownership. Jose Claxton becomes MD, capital strategies and client relations. Release

Bridget Boulle has joined Henderson Global Investors’ Sustainable and Responsible Investment team as an SRI Analyst. She joins from PIRC Ltd. where she was a Senior Researcher. The firm has also named Harriet Lamb, Executive Director of the UK’s Fairtrade Foundation,to its SRI Advisory Committee.

Eugenia Unanyants-Jackson, formerly Stewardship Services Manager, Europe at Governance for Owners, the governance partnership that has institutional investor backing, has joined F&C Asset Management as Senior Analyst, Governance and Sustainable Investment.

Nicolas Bénéton has been appointed Senior Analyst at advisory firm Cedrus Partners, which advises on sustainable UCITS funds. He joins the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment signatory from Fitch Ratings, where he was Associate Director.

Denis Kwok has become an Analyst, Corporate Governance – Public Equities at the C$96.4bn (€72.7bn) Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. He was previously with Toronto-based boutique advisory and accounting firm Elements LLP. Link

Malin Ringwall, a former analyst at Alecta, has joined Finland’s mutual pension insurance company Etera as an SRI analyst, according to IPE.com. Link*The entire board* overseeing AccountAbility’s AA1000 principles, assurance and stakeholder engagement standards has resigned en masse citing a “loss of trust”. The move follows the resignation of Director of Standards David Simpson and Governing Council members. Accountability said there were “fundamental disagreements” between it and the board.

Stéphane Daul, former Head of Buy-Side Analytics at RiskMetrics Group, has become a consultant to insurance group Swiss Re, where he advises on finance modelling for group risk management. Link*1_*1_3_*1_%2F11069&trk=NUS_CMPY_FOL-dep

Encik Zainal Izlan has been named Executive Director for Islamic Capital Market development at Malaysia’s Securities Commission regulator. He was most recently chief executive of i-VCap Management, the Shariah-compliant investment firm.

Joachim Faber is to retire from his role as head of the asset management arm of Allianz at the end of 2011, to be succeeded by Jay Ralph. Marna Whittington will step down as Chief Operating Officer of Allianz Global Investors in March to focus on her role as CEO of Allianz Global Investors Capital.
Andrew Raisman, head of UK institutional business development and consultant relations at Hermes Fund Managers, has joined Vontobel Asset Management as Executive Director, Head of UK/Ireland Institutional Business.
