RI People & Appointments, January 9: New operations chief at APG

Mark Boerekamp has been named as Chief Operations Officer at APG, the €287bn asset manager owned by Dutch pension fund ABP. Boerekamp is currently a senior partner at Accenture, the consulting firm. Separately, André ten Damme, APG’s chief financial officer, plans to take a sabbatical, according to a report in IPE.com.

Lord Turner is to step down from his role as Chair of the Committee on Climate Change – the body which advises the UK government on emissions targets – to focus on his role as Chair of the Financial Services Authority regulator. Turner has chaired the group since 2008. The Department for Energy and Climate Change has begun recruiting a replacement. Announcement

Justin Sloggett has joined The Co-operative Asset Management (TCAM) as a Responsible Investment Analyst. He was previously with Foreign and Colonial Asset Management and Fidelity Investments in fund accounting and performance analysis roles.

Henk Kroeze is stepping down as chairman of SNS Bank and as a member of the management committee of SNS REAAL, the Dutch financial group. He will leave as of April 30 and be replaced on an interim basis by Ernst-Jan Boers, SNS Bank’s Chief Financial and Risk Officer. Pamela Gibbs has been named as Director of the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion at the Securities and Exchange Commission. The role oversees diversity in the SEC’s employment, management, and business activities. Gibbs joins from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, where she had a similar role. Link*Neelabh Singh has been named* Head of Complex Cleantech Solutions (CCS), at the Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, the Danish clean tech advocacy group. The CCS project is almost entirely financed by the Danish Industry Foundation also known as Industriens Fond, the cluster said.

Mercer, the investment consulting firm, has reshuffled its top management to integrate investment consulting and investment management. Jeff Schutes becomes global head of manager research and wealth management. Rich Nuzum has been appointed head of Investments for the US while Tom Geraghty becomes head of Investments for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Stephen Roberts takes on the same role in Asia-Pacific. Andrew Kirton continues as global Chief Investment Officer.

ResponsAbility AG, the Zurich-based social investments specialist, has advertised several job vacancies. They include: Relationship Manager, Head of Marketing & Communications, and two Investment Officer roles.

Campaign group FairPensions has a six-month vacancy for a paid Campaigns Intern, starting at the end of this month. FairPensions seeks to harness the shareholder power of large investors to target corporations on their environmental and human rights impacts. More details are available here

The Clean Development Mechanism is looking for new members for its various bodies. They include the Methodologies Panel, the Afforestation and Reforestation Working Group, the Small Scale Working Group and the CDM Accreditation Panel. The deadline for applications is February 5. Link
