RI People & Appointments, July 11: Former ASrIA head joins HSBC in climate change role

Wai-Shin Chan, a former Executive Director at the Association for Sustainable & Responsible Investment in Asia (ASrIA) and an ex ESG equity analyst for Asia at JPMorgan has moved to HSBC in Hong Kong as Director, Climate Change Strategy, Asia-Pacific.

Integrated reporting specialist Michael Krzus is planning to launch his own firm, Mike Krzus Consulting, when he retires as a partner at Grant Thornton partner next month. Krzus has worked with the International Integrated Reporting Committee and the G4 development team of the Global Reporting Initiative amongst others. “I see myself as far too young to retire and there is still much to be done to make integrated reporting a reality,” he says.

Australian equities funds management boutique Solaris Investment Management has appointed Lisa Domagala as an environmental, social and governance (ESG) specialist. The appointment is in response to client demand, according to reports. Solaris runs around A$4bn for retail and institutional investors.

Maarika Paul has been named Chief Financial Officer of C$151.7bn (€111.5bn) Montreal-based UN Principles for Responsible
Investment signatory the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. She was previously with telecoms company BCE.

XBRL International Inc, the global not-for-profit consortium behind the XBRL business reporting standard, has named Liv Watson as Chief Product Officer and David Nitchman as Director of Communications and Marketing.Martin Mannion, Director of Finance and Risk for the £8.6bn (€9.75bn) GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) UK Pension Schemes, has been named Chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds’ Investment Council. He will replace when the latter’s two-year term ends at the NAPF’s annual general meeting in October.

David Arkless has become President of the Board for End Human Trafficking Now! (EHTN), the Geneva-based campaign organisation. Arkless is President of Corporate and Government Affairs at human resources firm ManpowerGroup. Announcement

Lucian Bebchuk, Director of the Program on Corporate Governance at the Harvard Law School, has been re-elected to the board of Russian mining company MMC Norilsk Nickel OJSC, according to a company filing.

Sheila Bair, outgoing chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., the US bank regulator, is to join the $5bn Pew Charitable Trusts in September as a senior adviser. Pew is a non-profit organisation founded in 1948 which seeks to serve the public interest.

Kookie Habtegaber has joined sustainability consultancy AccountAbility as Research Manager. She was previously a business developer /consultant at Black Swan Plc.

The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund has advertised a vacancy for an Investment Officer, Real Estate. The role is based in New York and the closing date is August 29.
