RI People & Appointments, June 27: Mercer’s Ambachtsheer wins lifetime achievement award

Jane Ambachtsheer, the head of consultant Mercer’s global responsible investment team and an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto, has won the Social Investment Organization’s second annual Lifetime Achievement Award. Michael Jantzi, CEO of Jantzi-Sustainalytics, won the inaugural Lifetime award in 2010. Link

Dominique Biedermann, the head of Ethos Services SA, has been elected chairman of the Steering Committee of Proxinvest, the French proxy firm. The 13-strong committee comprises: Valérie Bardou (Amundi); Prof. Jean-Luc Chenaux (University of Neuchâtel); Jean de Demandolx (GSP Demandolx); Olivier Gindre (EPF Partner); Pascal Girardot (Fédéractive); Olivier de Guerre (Phitrust); Colette Neuville (ADAM); Guillaume Prache (Euro Shareholder); Gerard Rameix (National Ombudsman); Pascale Sagnier (Axa IM); Prof. Dominique Schmidt (University of Strasbourg); Bruno de la Villarmois (Air Liquide).

Alya Kayal has been named as the new Director of Policy and Programs at the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment (US SIF). She was previously vice president for sustainability research at Calvert Investments and takes over the role vacated when Peter DeSimone left to join the Sustainable Investments Institute.

Mark Hyde Harrison, Chief Executive of the Barclays UK Retirement Fund, has been elected Chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), Britain’s biggest pensions trade body. He will succeed Lindsay Tomlinson. Announcement*Roger Ferguson, president and CEO* of US retirement giant TIAACREF, has been named as a co-chair of not-for-profit organisation the Committee for Economic Development (CED), taking over from Joseph Kasputys, Founder of IHS Global Insight and Chairman of China Monitor.

John Dawson, Director of Investor Relations at National Grid, has taken over as chairman of the UK’s Investor Relations Society. He succeeds Richard Davies; Karen Keyes, Head of Investor Relations at Logica, was named as deputy chairman. Announcement

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board director Heather Munroe-Blum has been named as a director of the Royal Bank of Canada. Dr. Munroe-Blum is the Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University in Montreal. Announcement

Sara Stahl has been named managing director of global marketing at the Green Exchange (GreenX), the environmental markets outfit backed by leading banks such as Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan. She joins from the Intercontinental Exchange (previously European Climate Exchange) most recently as Head of Emissions Markets. She has also worked at the Directorate of Environment at the European Commission in Brussels. Release

Julie Dollé, Sell Side SRI Analyst at Natixis Securities in Paris is leaving to join the SRI analysis team Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Dollé started her analyst career at Credit Agricole Asset Management. It is understood she will she stay in Paris working for the US bank.
