Jan Poser has been named at the new director of asset management and sustainable analysis at Bank Sarasin. Other new appointments are Phillip Bärtschi as chief investment officer for private clients and Daniel Graf as director for institutional investors. All three report to Burkhard Varnholt, the Swiss private bank’s new head of asset management, products and sales. “These appointments are a clear sign of the bank’s continued commitment to first-class customer service in sustainable investing,” said Sarasin. Stephane Huyghues-Despointes has been named Director General of Cedrus Asset Management, the new fund management arm of France-based sustainable funds advisory firm Cedrus. He is a former president at Banque Postale’s Easybourse operation.

Richard Saunders, former chief executive of UK fund industry trade body the Investment Management Association (IMA), has joined Investec Asset Management as a non-executive director. Investec manages more than $105bn.

Sweden: Professor Peter Englund has been named as a board member of the Tredje AP-fonden (AP3) buffer fund. He replaces Kari Lotsberg who sat on the board for eight years.

Lisa Jackson, the former Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is being hired to head up environmental programmes at iPhone giant Apple, according to reports.

Linda Lowson, CEO of the Global ESG Regulatory Academy, has been named as a fellow of the Governance & Accountability Institute, the US-based sustainability body.Ulysses Chioatto has joined Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) as Executive Director and Head of Research for Australia and New Zealand. Mala Chakraborti has been named as Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Swedish industrial group Atlas Copco. She replaces Karin Holmquist, who becomes Vice President Group Internal Audit and Assurance. Chakraborti joined the company in 2012 as Corporate Responsibility Coordinator. Her 2011 master’s thesis for Atlas Copco was on developing an integrated annual report. Link

Ole Settergren, Head of Development at the Swedish Pensions Agency, has been appointed by the government as a new member of the board of buffer fund Andra AP-fonden (AP2).

Flemming Borreskov, CEO of €2.1bn Danish philanthropic association Realdania, has been appointed UN Global Compact Special Advisor on Foundations. It’s part of a collaboration between the Global Compact and Realdania on social investment and corporate philanthropy.

Two new board members of Norway-based insurance and asset management provider Storebrand have been elected. They are Telnor CFO Gyrid Skalleberg Ingerø and Norsk Hydro director Terje Vareberg.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has advertised a vacancy for the Head of Secretariat for the new Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). Bonn, Germany-based IPBES was established in April 2012 and is hosted by UNEP.
