RI People & Appointments, May 19: PRI’s Head of Implementation Support leaves

Katie Beith has left her role as Head of Implementation Support at the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), where she helped investors implement the Principles across all asset classes. Beith, who joined the PRI in October 2010, has joined the Pensions Trust, the £5.7bn (€6.9bn) fund for the UK’s charitable, social, education, voluntary and non-profit sectors as maternity cover for investment officer Jennifer Anderson, who advises the trust’s chief investment officer and board on sustainable investing. Beith, who sits on a PRI hedge fund steering committee in her Pensions Trust capacity, left the PRI earlier this month and the initiative is currently recruiting a successor.

Karina Litvack, who left her former post as Director, Head of Governance and Sustainable Investment at F&C Asset Management at the end of 2012, has been elected to serve as Independent Non-Executive Director of the board of directors of Italian oil and gas company Eni SpA. In its recent elections, Eni replaced all but one of its board members, including the Chairman and the CEO. The new line-up takes the Board to one third female members, including new Chairman, Emma Marcegaglia, and Litvack, who is also its first non-Italian member.

Rob Bauer, finance professor and institutional investments chairman at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, has been named as Executive Director at the Rotman International Centre for Pensions Management in Toronto, Canada. Bauer steps in to the position vacated by Keith Ambachtsheer, who was named director emeritus of the Center. Ambachtsheer had been executive director of the institute at the University of Toronto since it was created in 2005, and he will continue editing the Rotman International Journal of Pension Management among other things.

Mary Barnett and Jane Firth have joined the Executive of the UK’s Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPPF), the group of more than 60 local authority funds with combined assets of over £125bn. Barnett is Chair of the Greater Gwent (Torfaen) Pensions Committee while Firth an Investment Manager with South Yorkshire Pension Fund. Link

Bo Foged has been appointed Chief Financial Officer at ATP, the Danish labour market pension giant. He joins from BankInvest, where he had been CEO since 2011. He said: “ATP is an exciting enterprise engaged in an important societal role, and I look forward to making my contribution.”

Binia Nightingale has left her role as Finance & Administration Officer at the Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility (ECCR), the UK-based faith investment group.Jay Chaudhuri, general counsel and senior advisor to the state treasurer of North Carolina, has been elected as the new chair of the Council of Institutional Investors (CII), the US investor group representing more than $3trn under management. Chaudhuri, who had been co-chair, succeeds Anne Sheehan, director of corporate governance at California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS). The three new board members are Trevor Gunderson, vice president and deputy general counsel at General Mills; Jennifer O’Dell, assistant director, LIUNA Staff and Affiliates Pension Fund; and Gregory Smith, executive director, Public Employees Retirement Association of Colorado.

Sustainable Investment Partners (SI Partners), the new firm headed up by Martina Macpherson, the former Head of ESG Commercial Relationships and Marketing at MSCI, has teamed up with the Center for Social and Sustainable Products, the Liechtenstein-based responsible investments consulting and research house, according to a news release. The joint venture will promote CSSP – which runs the yourSRI.com site – to UK clients.

Jess Jarratt has been named the new president of Prudential Agricultural Investments, succeeding Charles Allison, who has retired after 24 years with the company. Matt Ciaschini becomes chief investment officer-agricultural equity. Jarratt joins from Wells Real Asset Management Co.; Ciaschini was a portfolio manager at Harvard Management Co. Announcement

Manus O’Donnell has been named as Chief Investment Officer at Dublin-based renewable energy investment group NTR plc. He was formerly CEO of Mainstream Capital and Head of Corporate Finance for Mainstream Renewable Energy; he will head up NTR’s strategy to invest in wind projects in UK and Ireland. O’Donnell sits on the Steering Committee of the Irish government’s Green IFSC. Link

Rowan Griffin, Head of Sustainability, Property, at Colonial First State Global Asset Management, has joined Lend Lease, the Sydney-based property and infrastructure company.

Richard Hills has resigned as senior independent director at Phaunos Timber Fund, the London-listed timber investor. William Vanderfelt, Non-Executive Director since 2012 and recently appointed Chairman of the Remuneration Committee, will become Senior Independent Director. Phaunos added it would update shareholders about its ‘strategic review’ by the end of June. Announcement

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking two interns in its Environment Climate and Social Office. One will work on social development, the other on climate at the Projects Directorate in Luxembourg.
