The United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment is advertising a vacancy for a Head of Research and Public Policy. The candidate will head up a new programme of strategic research and public policy on issues related to the creation of sustainable financial markets and the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into investment processes. The deadline for applications is June 8. Link

The European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) has named three new board members. They are: Jordi Gual, Chief Economist and Head of Research at la Caixa; Gerard Hertig, Professor of Law at ETH Zurich; and Jörgen Holmquist, former Director General for the Single Market and Financial Markets in the European Commission.

The ECGI has also named five new fellows, drawn from academia in Europe and North America. They are: Professor Daniel Ferreira (London School of Economics); Professor Paul Gompers (Harvard University); Professor Marcel Kahan (New York University School of Law); Professor Antoinette Schoar (MIT Sloan School of Management); and Professor Per Strömberg, Director, Institute for Financial Research (Sweden). James Hughes-Hallett has been appointed as the new chairman of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the £804m (€996m) UK charity and social investor. Hughes-Hallett, who chairs conglomerate Swire Group and is a non-executive director of HSBC, will take over from Tom Chandos from June 2013. Announcement

Sir Suma Chakrabarti, a senior UK civil servant, has been elected President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the next four years, replacing Thomas Mirow. The appointment comes as the EBRD has pledged to fund sustainable energy projects worth €25bn over next three years, in the next phase of its Sustainable Energy Initiative.Idar Kreutzer is stepping down as chief executive of Storebrand, the leading Norwegian responsible investor, to become managing director of trade body Finance Norway. Kreutzer joined the life insurance, pension and savings provider in 1992 and spent 12 years as CEO. Odd Arild Grefstad has been named as acting CEO. Link
Ronald Green has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of Ludgate Environmental Fund Ltd., the AIM-listed environmental investor. He is the former Company Secretary and Treasurer of listed Jersey financial services group, Berkeley Technology Ltd. Link

Encik Jamaluddin bin Nor Mohamad has been named as Head of Islamic and Alternative Markets at the Bursa Malaysia exchange. He was previously Chief Operating Officer of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd. Announcement

Richard Saunders is to step down as chief executive of the Investment Management Association at the end of this year after 11 years in the role. The IMA, the trade body for UK fund managers, will begin a process to identify his successor. Announcement
Former Climate Change Capital Chief Executive and CFO Mark Macleod has been named as CFO at Quilter, the private client asset manager with £8.1bn in funds under management, according to a Citywire report. Macleod took over as CEO at CCC – now part of US-listed commodities group Bunge – after the departure of Shaun Mays.
John McGonegal has been named as Vice President and Director of Board Services at Corporate Board Member, the NYSE Euronext subsidiary which provides governance information to corporate boards. He joins from Verizon Business, where he was Managing Principal, Financial Markets and Securities.

The Clean Development Mechanism is seeking members for its new Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage Working Group expert panel. The deadline for applications is June 10.
