RI’s regular round-up of people moves

Pierin Menzli, former Head of Research at SAM, who left the company earlier this year following a major senior staff reshuffle, has launched a new investor advisory business called Contrast. The Zurich-based firm is involved in asset manager selection and investment consulting.

Adam Seitchik, the former Chief Investment Officer and Co-CEO at Trillium Asset Management, has started his own firm called Sustainable Investment Research Center LLC, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Seitchik was most recently at Auriel Capital where he was a Managing Director developing tailored environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment strategies for institutional investors. Link

Alan Cameron, the former chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, has been named as the new chairman of the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) Corporate Governance Council. Cameron, who also chairs Hastings Funds Management, banking giant Westpac’s insurance companies, takes over from Malcolm Starr, who is leaving the ASX.

Brian Gibson, Senior Vice President, Public Equities at Alberta Investment Management Corp. (AIMCo), has been appointed to the board at Canadian food group Viterra Inc. The appointment is significant because AIMCo had been campaigning for governance changes at the company. Gibson said he looked forward to “working with Viterra to increase shareholder value”.

Marlon Sahetapy, the former executive director, marketing and investor relations at Hermes Focus Asset Management, has joined emerging markets private equity firm Aureos Capital. He will be responsible for Europe, Middle East and Africa at the firm, which has $1.3bn (€953m) in assets under management.Martin Crowe, chief executive of UN Principles for Responsible Investment signatory Telstra Super, has been appointed a director of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA). Telstra Super is Australia’s largest corporate super fund, with A$10bn (€7.5bn) in assets under management.

Professor Mike Ferguson has been appointed to Board of Governors of the Wellcome Trust, the £13.9bn (€16.2bn) charitable foundation. Ferguson is the Dean of Research for the College of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. Announcement

Kristi Craig, former Senior Investment Officer with the US Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) Program, has joined the Small Business Investor Alliance as Senior Vice President of Business Development. The alliance was previously known as the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies (NASBIC).

*The Association of British Insurers*(ABI) is seeking a Corporate Governance Advisor to join its IVIS (Institutional Voting Information Service) arm, according to a job advertisement. The candidate will be part of a five person IVIS team that assesses company accounts.

The International Renewable Energy Agency, the inter-governmental body, has advertised a vacancy for a Deputy Director-General. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and commands a salary of up to $122,873; the deadline for applications is November 30.

Glass Lewis, the proxy research firm, is seeking a Korean Proxy Research Associate. The role will be based in San Francisco and is a full-time, entry-level seasonal position. Employment is expected to begin on February 1, 2012. Link
