RI People & Appointments, Oct. 31: UKSIF Leadership Programme appointments

Adam Frost, Bozena Jankowska and James Stacey have been appointed to the committee that oversees the Leadership Programme at UKSIF, the sustainable investment and finance association. Frost is Head of Governance and Social and Environmental Research at Sarasin & Partners. Jankowska is Global Head of Sustainability Research at RCM. Stacey is Head of Sustainable Finance, Earth Capital Partners.

Andrei Marcu, the former Founder and Chief Executive of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), has joined think tank the Centre for European Policy Studies as a Senior Advisor and Head of its Carbon Market Forum. Link

Charles Garske has joined proxy solicitation firm Okapi Partners as Senior Managing Director. He comes from rival Georgeson Inc., which is part of Computershare. Link

Rob Gillette has unexpectedly stood down as CEO of Arizona-based solar photovoltaic (PV) module maker First Solar. Chairman and founder Mike Ahearn was named as interim CEO at the NASDAQ-listed firm. Announcement

Aon Hewitt’s Rosalind Gilbert has received the annual award for exceptional volunteerism from the Association of Canadian Pension Management. Gilbert is an actuary and vice president in the Vancouver office of the consulting firm. Link

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin has been named as a senior advisor to Principal Solar, the Dallas-based renewable energy holding company. The company aims to acquiring existing solar builder/owner/operators and new technology companies in a “roll-up strategy”. Announcement

Ian Henderson is to step down from JP Morgan Asset Management’s Global Natural Resources fund early next year, according to reports. The fund will now be solely run by Neil Gregson.Jerome Tagger, the New York-based former Chief Operating Officer for the Principles for Responsible Investment has joined Solaron, the ESG research company, as a Senior Advisor. Solaron said Tagger would be supporting the firm with market intelligence and global business development.

Fund management firm F&C has named two independent non-executive detectors. Keith Jones is a former Chief Executive Officer of Morley Fund Management and former CEO of NPI Investments and a past Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Association of British Insurers. Keith Percy was most recently Executive Chairman and CEO of Société Générale Asset Management UK and was previously Chief Executive of Morgan Grenfell Asset Management. Announcement

Law firm Reed Smith has named London-based Kyri Evagora and San Francisco-based Ellen Bastier to head its expanded 100-strong Energy & Natural Resources team. It will offer services to clients, including investors, “whether they are involved in the more traditional resources, such as oil, gas, nuclear, metals and minerals, or in renewable and clean energy”. The Conflict Risk Network (CRN), a network of institutional investors on human rights, has advertised for a new Director. The role will involve developing and leading high-level strategic partnerships, such as with UN Global Compact, UNPRI, other NGOs and investor coalitions.

Impact investments specialist responsAbility Social Investments has advertised two Mumbai investment officer vacancies. They are for 1) Equity Investments in Energy, Agriculture, ICT, Health & Education and 2) Debt in Microfinance, Fair Trade and Sustainable Agriculture Finance . There are also Zurich-based roles for Investment Analyst for Fair Trade, Sustainable Agriculture and Trade Finance and Financial Analyst Microfinance.
