Award-winners announced at RI Europe event in London today

The winners of the fourth annual RI Reporting Awards 2016 have been announced at the RI Europe 2016 event in London today (June 22).

The RI Reporting Awards showcase excellence in responsible investment and ESG reporting, recognising the highest standards in the disclosure of responsible investment activities by investors globally. The RI Reporting Awards for Asset Owners were established in 2013.

This year saw the introduction of the RI Reporting Awards for Asset Managers, encouraging best practice and transparency across the entire industry.

Dutch health care pension fund Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn (PFZW) won the award in the Large Funds category of asset owner, with the judges calling it “hands down the best”. Commendations went to Germany’s Allianz SE and the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global.

In the Medium/Small Funds category, the award went to France’s ERAFP for its “extremely clear reporting”. Commendations went to the Environment Agency Pension Fund of the UK and the New Zealand Superannuation Fund.

And in the new category for asset managers, that award went to Australian Ethical Investment, the Sydney-based group, for its demonstration of a thorough culture of responsible principles not just in its investments but also in the organization.

Commended in this category were private equity giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and US SRI fund firm Pax World.

The RI Reporting Awards are based on proprietary research of more than 2,000 asset owner and asset manager reports around the world to create a pool of RI reports to which a series of objective indicators are applied to filter the reports into shortlists of nominated (short listed) reports. The RI Reporting Awards are organised by Responsible Investor in association with research partner the Responsible Finance Research (RFR) Charity.

The research is supervised by Dr. Agnes Neher, Sustainability Manager at Bank J. Safra Sarasin and Co-Founder of ReFine Research, and Dr. Pei-Shan Yu, General Secretary, ReFine Research.

“We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the judges who give up so much of their time to read and assess the reports,” said Tony Hay, Publisher of Responsible Investor and ESG Magazine.
