

Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, will give the welcome address to this year’s RI New York conference on December 4-5.
Mohammed was formerly the Federal Minister of the Environment in Nigeria and is a Member of the Board of Directors Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data. Around 150 asset owners have already signed up to attend the RI New York 2019 conference on sustainable business and finance, which is attended by 600+ senior investment professionals to discuss the latest regulatory and financial developments in the sector.
The conference will also feature keynote addresses from:
Abigail E. Disney, Founder, Level Forward Productions (granddaughter of the co-founder of the Disney corporation), the celebrated US documentary filmmaker, philanthropist, and social activist who has been highly vocal on executive pay and inequality.
Jeffrey Sachs, the US economist, academic, public policy analyst and former director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University. Sachs is one of the world’s leading experts on economic development and the fight against poverty.RI New York 2019 will also feature a keynote from Alain Deckers, Head of Unit, Corporate Reporting, Audit and Credit Rating Agencies, DG FISMA, at the European Commission.
Deckers’ keynote comes as the EU is taking a major step towards internationalising its work on sustainable finance via the EU Action Plan on Sustainable Finance, with the recent high-level launch of a new International Platform on Sustainable Finance (IPSF) in Washington DC.
RI New York 2019 is part of Sustainable Finance Week, which takes place during the first week of December, featuring a suite of top-level events that discuss innovative and visionary ideas on how to mobilize the next $10 trillion in sustainable investment.
Other features of the RI New York 2019 conference include a major plenary on ‘How regulators are now driving corporate and financial sustainability requirements’ and a Fireside Chat between Bertrand Millot, Head of Stewardship at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) with Hugh Wheelan, Managing Editor, Responsible Investor on the work of the Net Zero Asset Owners’ Alliance.
