People & Appointments: Fidelis Insurance hires its first Head of Sustainability

The latest ESG movers and shakers


Victor Riega has left his role as Senior Sustainability Manager at Standard Chartered to join Fidelis Insurance as its first Head of Sustainability. Riega has previously held human rights and corporate responsibility roles at Aviva.

Robeco has made four new appointments to its sustainable investment research team, including a new team head, Rachel Whittaker. Whittaker, who leaves her role as a Sustainable Investment Strategist at UBS and worked at Robeco from 2015 to 2017, will be joined by Guilia Schettino and Ally Wong, who also leave UBS, and Federico Silvano who joins from Allianz Global Investors. Schettino, Wong and Silvano all join the team as Researchers.

Drew Schechtman has been appointed Head of ESG Strategy, Investments at AIG. Schechtman joins AIG from Voya, where he was Head of ESG Investment Strategy, and prior to that was Vice President, Head of Environmental Investment and Sustainability.

Aleksandra Njagulj has left her role as Global Head of ESG at real estate investment manager CBRE Global Investors to join DWS as its Global Head of ESG for Real Estate. Njagulj, who was previously Head of the Sustainability, R&D and Innovation department at construction company Bouygues UK before joining CBRE, is a BRE Academy Fellow and sits on the INREV ESG Committee and Urban Land Institute Sustainability Council.

Daniela Jaramillo has joined Fidelity International as a Director, Sustainable Investing. Jaramillo was previously at HESTA for five years, holding several ESG and responsible investment roles, and sits on the Principles for Responsible Investment’s Stewardship Advisory Committee. She is also a Board Member of the Responsible Investment Association Australasia.

Jurre Halsema has become a green bond Portfolio Manager at NN Investment Partners. Halsema joined NNIP in 2015 and was a Portfolio Manager for treasury and money markets before making the move to green bonds.

Elias Albagli, the Head of the Monetary Policy Division at the Central Bank of Chile, has been appointed its representative in the country’s Natural Capital Committee, which the bank decided to join last week.

National Australia Bank is hiring a Senior Associate Sustainable Finance, based in New South Wales.

Catherine Bremner has been appointed the new Chief Commercial Officer at Impax Asset Management. Bremner leaves her role as Director, International Energy and Climate Finance at the UK government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and has previously held roles at ANZ Bank and Low Carbon Australia.

Josephine Bush has joined Guernsey Finance as a Strategic Advisor for Green and Sustainable Finance. Bush, who worked at EY for 15 years, is also a Non Executive Director at Net Zero Now and a member of the Gresham House sustainable infrastructure investment committee. 

Katie Leach has joined ShareAction as a Senior Programme Development Manager – Biodiversity. Leach leaves her role as Senior Programme Officer at the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre. 

Oscar Warwick Thompson has become Senior Policy and Communications Manager at the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF). Warwick Thompson joined UKSIF in 2020, after leaving his role as Government Affairs Manager at the Investment Association.

Moody’s ESG is hiring a North Asia Regional Director to oversee its sales activities in the region.
