People & Appointments: Investment consultant bfinance hires ESG Director

Investment consulting firm bfinance has appointed Sarita Gosrani as its ESG and Responsible Investment Director. It marks bfinance’s first senior recruit solely dedicated to ESG matters. Gosrani, who was formerly Head of ESG Research at XPS Pensions Group, will head up the investment consultancy’s new ESG advisory unit, based in London. 

Cbus Super Fund is recruiting a Senior Analyst for its responsible investment team. The role will center on ESG integration, Head of Responsible Investment Nicole Bradford wrote, and will require the analyst to “work across multi-asset investment class teams to deliver on key ESG initiatives”.

Sustainable asset management firm Impax has named Adrian Missen as Country Head for Ireland, and Emily Cassidy as Head of Compliance for Ireland. Missen is the former Head of Client Development at BCP Asset Management and Senior Vice President at Kleinwort Benson Investors, while Cassidy joins from Eaton Vance’s Irish entity and has also held compliance roles at the Central Bank of Ireland, Legal & General Investment Management and BlackRock. The two appointments follow several recent hires at Impax’s Dublin office, which is to be a “base for European Union activity," Chief Executive Ian Simm said. 

Ruth Knox has become a Partner within the London-based ESG & Impact Practice of law firm Kirkland & Ellis. She previously worked in the corporate, ESG, crisis management and automotive sector teams of LinkLaters. 

Harald Langer has been appointed Director of Research at the US Sustainable Investment Forum. The founder of advisory firm Weltgeist has worked at The Economist Intelligence Unit and consulted for the Financial Times, Newsweek and other media groups. Now, he will lead the association’s research initiatives, including the biennial publication of the Report on US Sustainable and Impact Investing Trends, and produce other external materials.

The California State Teachers’ Retirement System is hiring a Portfolio Manager to focus on private assets within its Sustainable Investment & Stewardship Strategies Unit. The role will involve developing and implementing a portfolio construction strategy in line with the unit’s objectives, managing its existing strategies for private assets – especially for affordable housing and low-carbon solutions – and supporting sustainability-related transactions for private assets. The salary will be between $14,334 and $21,500 per month, according to the application.

ShareAction is hiring a Senior Officer for Banking Standards to develop its strategy for coordinating shareholder resolutions at banks’ annual general meetings. The NGO is also seeking a Financial Sector Research Manager to support its research, surveys and target-setting in the space; an interim Senior Finance Officer to look after its in-house finances; and a Senior Research Officer to support the development of projects for its Networks and Financial Sector Strategies teams.

UK-based investment management firm Rathbones has appointed two new ESG analysts to its stewardship team: Kazuki Shaw, Junior ESG Analyst, joins from his position in sales and trading at HSBC’s global futures desk, and Andrea Marandino, ESG and Stewardship Analyst, moves from her role as Manager of Sustainable Finance and Corporate Risk at WWF UK. 

Haysam Azhar has joined the Climate Policy Initiative as a Junior Analyst, working in its Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance.

Dani Marunovic has been confirmed as Chief Financial Officer at the Global Reporting Initiative. Marunovic joins the GRI from Youth Business International, where she was Director of Finance and Operations. Peter Westra, the GRI’s Chief Operations Officer, has retired after 13 years of service.
