People & Appointments: Oak Hill Partners hires first ESG head from SASB

Alternative investment manager Oak Hill Advisors has hired Jeffrey Cohen from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) as its first Head of ESG and Sustainability. Cohen was the director of capital markets integration and head of private investments initiatives at SASB, which last year merged with the International Integrated Reporting Council to form the Value Reporting Foundation. The latter is in the process of being absorbed into the IFRS Foundation. At Oak Hill, Cohen will work with the firm’s investment team and portfolio companies to further develop sustainability metrics across its portfolios, as well as develop ESG-related investment solutions.

Thomas Kuh has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of ESG Strategy at Morningstar Indexes. Kuh, who became Executive Director of ESG Indexes at MSCI after its acquisition of RiskMetrics, leaves his role as President of Benchmark ESG Consulting.

Angela McClellan, former Head of German sustainable finance association FNG, has taken up a new role as Head of PwC Germany’s ESG Centre of Excellence. McClellan, who also sits on the German government’s sustainable finance committee, spent 11 years at Transparency International before becoming FNG head. She was replaced as Managing Director of the FNG at the start of January by Sascha Görlitz.

JP Morgan Chase is hiring for a Vice President to work on the bank’s ESG policy and regulation strategy.

Sona Stadtelmeyer-Petru has joined JP Morgan Asset Management as Sustainable Investing Lead Strategist EMEA. Stadtelmeyer-Petru, who sat on the UN Joint SDG Fund advisory committee and was on the PRI’s SDG advisory committee, left her role as Global Head of Sustainable Investing at Allianz Investment Management in January.

The Danish Financial Supervisory Authority is hiring a new member for its sustainable finance team. The successful applicant will join either as a Clerk, Specialist Consultant or Chief Consultant depending on experience.

Meg Lentz has left her role as Principal at private equity ESG consultancy Malk Partners to become Managing Director, ESG Services at investment bank Independence Point Advisors

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand is recruiting a Director of Sustainability and Financial Inclusion.

Emma Douglas has been appointed Senior Stewardship Analyst at the BT Pension Scheme. She leaves her role as Responsible Investment Consultant at Lane, Clark and Peacock.

Sasha Courville has been appointed to the newly created role of Chief Impact Officer at Bank Australia. She leaves her role as Executive, Social Impact at National Australia Bank, where she led its natural capital strategy and CSR efforts.

Monika Freyman has become Vice President, Sustainable Investing at Addenda Capital. Freyman, who spent eight years at Ceres working on its investor initiatives and water hub, was mostly recently Responsible Investment Lead for Canada at Mercer.

Stéphanie Lachance has become Head of Sustainable Investment at private investor Fiera Comox Partners. Lachance spent 15 years at PSP Investments, most recently as Managing Director and Head of Responsible Investment, and is a member of the independent review committee on standard setting in Canada.

Jessica Pilz has been promoted to the newly created role of Global Head of ESG at Fiera Real Estate. Pilz joined the firm in 2020 and has since been managing the sustainability strategy for its UK division.

Sabine Hampel has been appointed the new manager of EB Sustainable Investment Management’s Eco-equity fund. Hampel, who spent almost six years as a Portfolio Manager focusing on sustainability at ACATIS Investment, also served for 12 years as an officer in the German marines.

Seela Sinisalo has become Head of ESG at financial services firm United Bankers. Sinisalo leaves her role as Senior Environmental and Social Adviser at Finnfund.

McKenzie Ursch has been promoted to Head of Legal at Follow This. Ursch joined the NGO in 2020 as a Legal Advisor.

Harris Komishane, former Head of Finance at Fidelity, has joined Invest Green as Senior Advisor and Principal. Komishane spent 28 years at Fidelity, including as Chief Financial Officer of Devonshire Investors, its private equity and venture capital arm.
