RI People & Appointments, Sept. 16: Principles for Responsible Investment hires F&C’s Chatterjee

Sagarika Chatterjee has been appointed Senior Responsible Investment Specialist, a new role, at the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). She joins from F&C Investments where she worked on its REO engagement service. She has also served as Vice-Chair of the UK Sustainable Investment & Finance Association (UKSIF) and on the Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s Investment Sub-Committee. She joins in November and will report to PRI Managing Director Fiona Reynolds.

Jeff Lubitz has been named as Executive Vice President of Sales at GMI Ratings, the US-based provider of research, data and analytics on environmental, social, governance (ESG) and accounting-related risks. He was most recently Senior Vice President of Sales for wealth research services firm WealthEngine, where GMI’s recently appointed CEO Dan Concannon was Head of Sales. Lubitz is also a former VP for Sales at Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). Link

Harvey McGrath, the former chairman of UK insurer Prudential and alternative asset manager Man Group, is to succeed Sir Ronald Cohen as Chair of Big Society Capital, the UK’s social investment bank, from January 1 2014.

Daniel Rogatschnig has joined MSCI ESG Research’s team in Cape Town, South Africa. Prior to joining, he was an environmental consultant, both with URS Qatar and ERM Southern Africa, two of the dominant players in environment and social impact assessment in Africa and the Middle East.

Helle Gleie has been named as the first director of the Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI), the global coalition of companies and NGOs aiming to make shipping economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable by 2040. Gleie runs her own shipping consultancy firm and is former senior executive at Maersk. The SSI was started by environmentalist Jonathon Porritt’s Forum for the Future and has been led by the NGO’s staff since its inception in 2010.

Christiane Bisanzio has been appointed Group Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the AXA Group. She succeeds Lisa Kepinski, whose Linked-In page states she is forming a body called the Inclusion Institute. Announcement*Desmond Astley-Cooper* has been appointed as a fund manager at UK-based energy and environmental bank Turquoise International. He will mostly work with the Turquoise-run Low Carbon Innovation Fund which invests in low carbon companies in the East of England.

Julia Marton-Lefèvre is stepping down as Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) next year. The process of recruiting her successor has been launched.

Tefere Gebre has been elected as the new Executive Vice President of US labour union body the AFL–CIO. Gebre, who is an Ethiopian political refugee who immigrated to the US as teenager, will succeed Arlene Holt Baker. Link

Jonathan Dutton has been named as a non-executive director, specialising in sustainable procurement, at the Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ACCSR). He is a former head of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPSA). Link

The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the policy group founded in 1971, is seeking a new Chair for its international Board of Trustees to succeed Maureen O’Neil. The role starts in June 2014 for a three-year term.

CDP, the former Caron Disclosure Project, has advertised several job vacancies recently. They include: Vice President, Supply Chain USA; Project Officer, Operations – Supply chain; Senior Vice President – Finance and Operations, CDP North America.

The European Investment Fund is seeking a Microfinance Investment Officer. The role is responsible for the “origination, appraisal and execution” of investment operations in the field of microfinance and reports to the Head of the Microfinance Division. The closing date for applications is October 1.

A Director of Social Change Consulting is being sought by Social Finance Ltd., the UK social investor. “Social Finance is experiencing a period of rapid growth and is looking for an outstanding individual to help build our consulting work, particularly with local authority commissioners,” the job ad states. The closing date is September 22.
